Our domestic rabbit, Hershey, is a mammal, but not one that lives in the wild. Here in southwest Michigan the only wild rabbit we have is the eastern cottontail rabbit. In northern Michigan, we also have the snowshoe hare.
Eastern cottontail rabbits are common all over North America and even into South America.
