Frog Watch Survey

FROG WATCH SURVEY - March 30, Thursday, Meet at 8:00 PM - Join Sarett naturalists in this citizen science endeavor conducting frog surveys on Sarett property. You will learn common frogs and their calls, walk to several destinations, and learn how to use FrogWatch USA. The survey will require quietness and stillness, so this program may not be best for children. Bring a flashlight. We will also conduct frog surveys on May 4th at 8:45 PM and June 1st at 9:15 PM.

Woodcock Walk

Build a Bat House

BUILD A BAT HOUSE - April 2, Sunday, 1:00 PM - Join a naturalist to learn about bats in southwest Michigan and to help you walk through building your own bat house. Spring Stampede 5K

Spring Stampede 5K Run/Walk - April 8, Saturday - This unique 5K run and walk will take advantage of Sarett's nature trails. The funds raised from this event will help Sarett Nature Center continue to provide environmental education programs for over 25,000 school children each year.  The entry fee is $20 before March 18th, 2023, $25 March 22nd through April 6th, and $30 April 7th - 8th, 2023. Your entry must be received on or before March 24th to guarantee your race t-shirt. At 8:30 am, the kids’ 1-mile fun run will start. $1 is the entry fee for the fun run and all participants will receive a finisher’s ribbon. You can drop off your entry form at Sarett or mail it to:  Mike Mahler at Sarett Nature Center, 2300 Benton Center Rd., Benton Harbor, MI 49022.You can also register on-line at  Race packets and t-shirts can be picked up at the nature center on Thursday and Friday, April 6th & 7th from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm and on race morning starting at 7:30 am. Race Day Registration will start at 7:30 am. Members of Sarett Nature Center and the SWMI RACERS receive a $3 discount.  The Spring Stampede is a part of the SWMI RACERS Community Race Series.

WOMEN IN NATURE EVENT: NATURE JOURNALING - April 16, Sunday, 1:00 – 3:00 PM - Join a Sarett naturalist to learn how to begin nature journaling. Cost $10/member, $15/nonmember. Please call (269) 927-4832 to register.

Wildflower Walk at Dowagiac Woods

WILDFLOWER WALK AT DOWAGIAC WOODS - April 23, Sunday, 1:00 – 2:30 PM - Join a Sarett naturalist for an easy walk through one of our favorite springtime woods. Dowagiac Woods is known for its abundant variety of ephemeral spring wildflowers. Please call (269) 927-4832 to register. Cost: $5/non-member and free to members. We will meet at the Dowagiac Woods parking lot.

Silver Foxes: Wildflowers

SILVER FOXES: WILDFLOWERS - April 26, Wednesday, 11:00 AM - Go for a walk with a naturalist to look for and learn about spring wildflowers. Silver Foxes programs are designed for people 55 & older who like to be active and learn something new. This group meets once a month. Please call (269) 927-4832 to register. Monthly Stewardship Volunteer Day

April 30, Sunday- 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM - Join Sarett naturalists in helping restore and maintain native plant ecosystems at Sarett every month! Volunteers will help with a variety of stewardship projects while learning to identify key species of both native and invasive plants. Please wear sturdy shoes and bring water.
