Annual Audubon Christmas Bird Count
Birdwatchers needed! We are looking for volunteers to count birds as a part of Audubon's annual Christmas Bird Count event to create a census of birds. Volunteers will cover a portion of the official count area and drive around to tally up all the birds they see. To volunteer, please call (269) 927-4832 x 102 or email Mike at mikem@sarett.org.

Lavender Adventurers: Social Hike
Join us at Sarett for a morning of easy-paced, moderate hiking to spend time with your friends and make some new ones out on the trails! If there is enough snow we will snowshoe instead. This outdoors group is partnered with Outcenter Southwest Michigan for the LGBTQ+ community and their allies. No registration is necessary. Members/FREE, Non-Members/$5.
Winter Bird Quest

Winter Kids Crafts

Cross-Country Ski Lessons for Adults
Embrace the beauty of Michigan’s winter landscape while learning a fun and rewarding lifelong sport! This beginner-friendly program is designed specifically for adults who want to learn the fundamentals of classic cross-country skiing. Led by experienced instructors, you'll get hands-on guidance on proper technique, balance, equipment use, and trail etiquette. All fitness levels are welcome — no prior experience required. Silver Foxes: Wild Water's Journey
Everyone knows that water is essential to life, but have you thought about where our water comes from and how it gets into our rivers, lakes, and even your well? It is not just the presence of water that determines what grows and lives in a natural area, but the journey the water takes is equally important. Learn about how rain turns into bogs, fens, creeks, well water, and more while getting to know the plants and animals that specialize in different wetlands. Step into the nighttime woods and discover the mysterious world of owls! Join a naturalist for an evening adventure as we search — and listen — for Michigan’s resident owls, including the great horned owl, eastern screech-owl, and barred owl. We’ll begin with a short indoor introduction to owl calls, adaptations, and behavior. Bring a flashlight if you have one. Because space is limited registration is required. Join us for a winter bird outing to where the birds are—it could be Allegan State Game Area for eagle watching or to Muskegon for a variety of birds. Plan to make a day of it. Join Shadow & Swirl to learn the art of paper quilling. Participants will create and take home a beautiful quilled card perfect for Valentine’s Day to display or give to someone you love. Spring is just around the corner and it’s time to start thinking about nest boxes for bluebirds. Join us today to learn what it takes to provide successful bluebird habitat. Then join the naturalist to make a bluebird house to take home.

Yule Tree

Wreath Workshop
Nothing beats the smell of evergreens in the crisp winter air. Create your own wreath for the holiday season. Greens, tools, wire, and ribbon / bows will be provided. Fall Ukranian Egg Class
Join us as we create a fall leaf Ukrainian egg using beeswax and batik dyes to create our masterpieces. We will all follow the same egg pattern led by a Sarett naturalist. Jasper Pulaski Wildlife Refuge Trip
Join Sarett naturalists for an excursion to Indiana’s Jasper Pulaski Wildlife Refuge. This refuge is well known for its staging tens of thousands of sandhill cranes. Bring a sack supper as we will be staying until dark to watch the cranes fly in to spend the night. Meet at Sarett. Dress warmly. $15/Member, $20/Non-member. Present Pillars Fall Family Run/Walk
Join Present Pillars for a refreshing fall morning at the beautiful Sarett Nature Center as we walk, jog, or run together to support youth outdoor programs on Saturday, November 1 at 10:00 AM. This 5K-style Fun Run/Walk invites families, friends, and community members of all ages to explore the trails and celebrate nature.
Start Time: 10:00 AM sharp – arrive early to pick up your T-shirt and bib.
Location: Sarett Nature Center, Benton Harbor, MI. (Parking is limited—please carpool if possible.)
Post-Run Treats: Warm up with complimentary homemade soup, tea, and coffee after the run.

Sarett's Spooky Halloween
A spooky adventure will be had by all ages as you take a stroll through the trails and visit some spooky crafts, game stations, and other fun activities. Visit the scary trail if you want a fright! Tickets should be purchased in advance to participate in this Halloween event. $6.00/ person age 2 and older.
