The Brown Sanctuary is a 173 acre nature preserve located along the Paw Paw River owned by Sarett Nature Center. This former City of David property was once a muck farm but was acquired by Sarett Nature Center in 1993 through a generous donation by Edalene Brown in memory of her husband Ed. Now, its open marsh area serves as an important sanctuary for many migratory waterfowl.

Sneak a peek at the local wildlife through viewing blinds on the edge of the marsh. The deep woods is home to many animals including fox, whip-poor-wills, and barred owls. The open field provides homes for bluebirds, indigo buntings, and displaying ground for woodcocks. Enjoy the sanctuary and keep your eyes and ears open for wildlife around you!
