Maple Sugar Magic

MAPLE SUGAR MAGIC - March 11, Saturday, 1:00 - 2:00 PM - Welcome early spring with a “how to” demonstration on maple sugaring. Enjoy a talk and a stroll through the woods to learn how maple syrup is made. Learn to identify maple trees, how to tap and collect the sap and how to turn that sap into delicious amber syrup. Call 269-927-4832 to register. Members $5, Non-Members $8, Children $3. Maple treats will be available for sale.

Family Movie Night and Owl Prowl

FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT & OWL PROWL WITH COASTLINE CHILDREN’S FILM FESTIVAL- March 11, Saturday Movie starts at 6:30 PM Night Hike/Owl Prowl start at 8:00 PM - Join us for a screening of the movie HOOT! Afterward, Sarett naturalists will take you on a night hike to call for owls! Please bring a flashlight or headlamp for the hike (if you have one). It’s sure to be a hoot! This event is free.

Trivia Night!

TRIVIA NIGHT! - March 18, Saturday - 6:00 Doors Open, 7:00 Trivia Begins - Join us for an evening of "FUNdraising" and test your knowledge on a variety of categories. The first place team wins $200. Doors open at 6:00 pm and trivia begins at 7:00 pm. Buy a table for $100 (10 people/table) or join a table for $10/person. Please brings snacks to share with your tablemates. We will have a cash bar for pop. water, beer, and wine. Join us for an evening of good fun and lots of laughs. Please call (269)-927-4832 to reserve your table. Prepayment required. Trivia night is for adults only.

Women in Nature Event: Birding at Brown

Silver Foxes: Bird Nests

SILVER FOXES: BIRD NESTS - March 22, Wednesday, 11:00 AM - Learn about bird nests and go on a hike to look for some with a naturalist. Silver Foxes programs are designed for people 55 & older who like to be active and learn something new. This group meets once a month. Please call (269) 927-4832 to register. Sarett Birding Bunch

SARETT BIRDING BUNCH - March 25, Saturday, 8:00 AM - Today is the start of Sarett’s birding group, which meets most Saturdays from March - May. Birders of all levels are invited to welcome back the spring migrants starting this Saturday. Meet at the nature center and we will leave together and drive to the birding destination of the week. Bring your binoculars and a desire to learn about and see birds. Members/$8 a session, Non-members/$12 a session. For all sessions: $64/members, $96/nonmembers. Call (269) 927-4832 to register. The Birding Bunch will also meet on the following Saturdays: April 1, April 15, April 22, April 29, May 6, May 13 (BIRDATHON), May 20, May 27, and June 3.

Frog Watch Survey

FROG WATCH SURVEY - March 30, Thursday, Meet at 8:00 PM - Join Sarett naturalists in this citizen science endeavor conducting frog surveys on Sarett property. You will learn common frogs and their calls, walk to several destinations, and learn how to use FrogWatch USA. The survey will require quietness and stillness, so this program may not be best for children. Bring a flashlight. We will also conduct frog surveys on May 4th at 8:45 PM and June 1st at 9:15 PM.

Woodcock Walk

WOODCOCK WALK - April 1, Saturday, 8:30 – 9:30 PM - Join a Sarett naturalist for an evening walk looking and listening for the song, dance and aerial display of the American Woodcock. Call (269) 927-4832 to register. Members $5, Non-Members $8, Children $3.

Build a Bat House

BUILD A BAT HOUSE - April 2, Sunday, 1:00 PM - Join a naturalist to learn about bats in southwest Michigan and to help you walk through building your own bat house. Building materials and tools provided. Please bring your own gloves. Members/$25/box. Non-Members/$30/box. Call (269) 927-4832 to register.

Spring Stampede 5K

Spring Stampede 5K Run/Walk - April 8, Saturday - This unique 5K run and walk will take advantage of Sarett's nature trails. The funds raised from this event will help Sarett Nature Center continue to provide environmental education programs for over 25,000 school children each year.  The entry fee is $20 before March 18th, 2023, $25 March 22nd through April 6th, and $30 April 7th - 8th, 2023. Your entry must be received on or before March 24th to guarantee your race t-shirt. At 8:30 am, the kids’ 1-mile fun run will start. $1 is the entry fee for the fun run and all participants will receive a finisher’s ribbon. You can drop off your entry form at Sarett or mail it to:  Mike Mahler at Sarett Nature Center, 2300 Benton Center Rd., Benton Harbor, MI 49022.You can also register on-line at  Race packets and t-shirts can be picked up at the nature center on Thursday and Friday, April 6th & 7th from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm and on race morning starting at 7:30 am. Race Day Registration will start at 7:30 am. Members of Sarett Nature Center and the SWMI RACERS receive a $3 discount.  The Spring Stampede is a part of the SWMI RACERS Community Race Series.
