Announcements for September/October 2018

BARN PARTY DONATIONS: We are in need of donations to our Barn Party’s silent auction. A gift certificate or item would be greatly appreciated and very helpful in raising money to continue our environmental education programs.

ROTARY GRANT COMPLETED: Thanks to a generous grant from St. Joseph-Benton Harbor Rotary Club Foundation, we have been able to update our Interactive & Imagination Room, build a birds of prey enclosure, add three birds of prey for educational use, and buy needed equipment for our birds of prey. Thank you to the members of the St. Joseph-Benton Harbor Rotary Club!

MEMBERSHIP RENEWALS are due. If you have received a reminder notice in the mail please take the time out to support Sarett again this year! Membership is a vital part of the nature center’s budget. If you have not renewed, please take a moment to do so. Thank you to all who have taken the time to renew your membership. It is greatly appreciated!

GARDEN VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR THE FALL! We would appreciate any one who likes to garden to help with fall clean up in our gardens. If you are interested in helping us, please contact Dianne at 269-927-4832 to find out more information.

MEMORIALS & HONORARIUMS: Memorials were made in the names of Philipp Frobel, Dr. Richard Lyon, Doris Geer, Jackie Taglia and Carolyn Dorgelo. Ed Dunn honored Meg Rodgers for her performances in our Butterfly House this summer.

2018 NATURAL HISTORY TRIPS: Sarett naturalists are planning fun adventures for this fall!

  • Badlands/ Black Hills—September 16-23 (This trip is filled)
  • Ontario—Killarney, Algonquin and French River areas—October 1-7 (Looking for a single male)
  • Southern Africa—October 31-November 16 (This trip is filled)

2019 NATURAL HISTORY TRIPS: We are starting to complete itineraries for some of the trips for next year.

  • Baha, Mexico—January 27-February 2 (We are currently taking sign ups. Please contact us for an itinerary or if you have any questions.)

We will also be visiting Yellowstone and Iceland. Please let us know if you are interested in any of these trips and we will send a complete itinerary when it is ready.

MEMBERSHIP: Sarett Nature Center is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to teaching environmental education. Donations, contributions and memberships support Sarett.
