Traveling Naturalist Programs

Outdoor Traveling Naturalist – We will come to you!

Cost:
$75 for first program, $50 for additional programs on same day, $25 mileage fee beyond 20 miles away

PROGRAM OPTIONS:

ANIMAL ADAPTATIONS & CLASSIFICATION
Sarett naturalists will bring a variety of animal ambassadors to discuss animal adaptations and classification. 


FEATHERED FRIENDS
What makes a bird a bird? Naturalists will delve into this topic with participants covering important features like feathers, beaks, feet, nests, eggs, food, migration, songs, and camouflage. 


BIRD MIGRATION *seasonal
Naturalists review bird adaptations with participants and discuss the how
and why birds migrate. Participants will track bird migration on eBird or
weather radar. Participants will have the opportunity to learn how to use
binoculars as they walk around the outside of the school. Naturalists
will also help the participants start a bird journal. 


OWLS
Naturalists will introduce participants to a variety of owls, both live and
taxidermied. Participants will have the opportunity to discover an owl’s
special adaptations. 


HUNTER’S OF THE SKY
Naturalists will present our live bird ambassadors and teach about
their natural habitat, individual history, and the importance of these
amazing animals to our ecosystem. 


REPTILE ROUNDUP *seasonal
The anatomical and physiological differences between reptile species
will be discussed using our live animal ambassadors, including turtles,
lizards, and snakes. 


*Many of our animal ambassadors are affected by
temperature. Autumn weather can be variable therefore we
ask that you please decide on a back up program in case we
can not do the seasonal program.
